Skin-on-Frame: Attaching covering to a canoe gunwale

I am looking for different ways to attach the fabric to the gunwales of a single person SOF canoe. I am really looking for something "aesthetically pleasing" but would like to see what others have done on there canoes. I have seen beautiful work done by Dave Gentry, Kudzu, David Bynoe and many others. Google does not bring up very much in the way of pictures so if you have a picture, blog or an idea I would like to hear about it.
