Hi Steve,

I just figured out a way to do this, dye most of the boat but leave strips undyed. It would take a bit of planning and work before you strip it. If you take the strips that won't be dyed and pre-coat them with epoxy then let it fully set up (about a week or so) then they won't take the dye and still can be glued into the hull/deck as per normal. Stain or dye will wipe right off the cured epoxy. Regular titebond glue will glue the cured epoxy just fine for this use.
