I am contemplating using magnetic hatches on my Petrel. Does anyone know the gasket material that Joe Greenly uses for this? On searching this I ran across some pictures of his boats, it appears he uses some type of clear textured material, which goes directly over the magnets in the rim. I should have asked him when I met him at this year’s Wooden Boat Festival. His boats are really something.
