Thanks for the input. I got both transoms taken care of with a scraper and just have the topmost planks left to fair the finish. It's actually not onerous work, and progresses rapidly. Good thing it's a tiny project. I totally agree now, there is no need to use so much epoxy. For the inside I will use a very thin coat as a sealer and paint on top. Learn something new every week!

So, are all the perfect finishes on the s&g boats I see here due to cloth and a well squeegeed application?

If someone has links to some epoxy finish how-to articles please post them up.

A zero blush epoxy with built-in UV inhibitor would be awesome, eh?
