Hi George

I cut out my hatch holes after joining the deck to the hull, glassing, sanding. etc.

Then I laminate up the hatch lips in place, remove and clean them up, then glue them in.

I just use draught excluder rubbers from the local hardware store as seals.

I find that as the day cools I can get a vacuum forming and have to pry the hatch off it is sealed so well.

Probably a function of cutting the hatches after all the glassing has had time to go off and the boat is totally stiffened.
