Oh... I thought it might save time and effort to do the strip shaping on the plank. Typically a canoe's circumference at the stems is about 70-75% of its midships circumference, so for 3/4 wide strips only about 0.1" would have to be removed from each side of a plank at each end. Getting the profile correct along the entire length might need a lot of checking, but it sounded quicker than doing it strip by strip. One wouldn't want all the errors to build up at one point of the hull but several planks would be required so strips from several planks could be mixed, turned end-for-end and so forth. There is no stripper in my planned future, but who plans?
