I have some nylon somewhere, but I won't be able to dig it out for a while.
I do use PL on a lot of my frames, with excellent results. It does go on more or less clear - on the fabric (which surprised me). It is a useful tan color when used as glue.

I think a couple of tubes would cover a kayak. In theory . . . .
Still, the price, even for 3 or 4 tubes, would be comparable to varnish or paint. It's nice that it's available in every hardware store in the country, too.
