Don't know what the Winters (Summers too) and energy costs are there, but here that would show up very quickly on my energy bills. The neighbours may get antsy about the dust on laundry and car-washing day too :)

We have a neat box on our drier exhaust that filters the hot, moist air and redirects it back into the house during the Winter. Every little counts.

The furnace filter on the fan trick really works, the best filters have a pleated element; these were recommended by the guy who installed our new high-efficiency furnace - I think they generate static electricity from the air flow to retain the dust. One problem though: I was changing the filter and got lazy, tried to do it from a stool instead of a ladder (the fan is attached to the workshop ceiling which is fairly high) and ended up with 95% of the dust down my neck. The door was open at the time and the local kids found that hilarious.
