Soon after I finished my Auk I couldn't wait to get it on the water.
Without a rack of any kind, I stuck it through the back window of my truck.
I just put a big block of foam on the tailgate and off I went.

You guessed it! crossing main street things got to bouncing and out popped the foam, Which left the boat cantilevered between the rather narrow edge of the window frame and the ceiling of the cab. On my 17' boat that is about 15' out in the air bouncing! I thought I'd ruined it before even getting it to the water.
I pulled over and ignominiously retrieved my foam block from the traffic, on foot.
There was absolutely no damage to the boat - none.
Last week I got caught in a big set of breakers. The bow pearled, I went air born stern first and slammed into the bottom so hard I was loopy. That made a couple minor surface scratches on the stern, but nothing else.
The strip - Fiberglass sandwich is tough!
