Hi Brian,

I've used Beckson screw in hatches for years and never had one jam, though I can certainly see how it could happen. I put one, I think 6", on the rear deck of my NDK Greenlander to use as a day hatch and with really rough service it's held up extremely well. I know that some have lubricated the threads to make them easier to open as well as help them seal, but anything you put on threads will gather dirt, so think this is a bad idea.

Btw, I'm home and the problem that caused me to leave has been solved.
