Btw, an easy way to make a tether is to use large electrical eyes that crimp onto wire, then use pre-tinned electrical wire as the tether, lasts a really long time, is quiet and the eye makes attachment to the hatch lids easy.

The eyes will also work on cord, but are a pain to feed the cord thru the swage end.
