Well....realistically in rough water where you're likely to need it, a stick pump doesn't pump much more water than a low capacity foot pump does either unless you've got external help to keep the boat balanced while you're pumping.

Pretty hard to brace effectively with one hand, which is the point of foot pumps in the first place.
