I'd think carefully about the white colored strips on the outside of the boat, having the strips run parallel to the sheer would make stripping it a whole heck of alot easier. and other than few people on this forum, no one else will ever see the direction of the strips but you.

You'd be amazed at how even very experienced woodworkers will only see the overall pattern and will never see the details.
