Just a thought ... did you trim *all* of the bevel line off the end forms?

In Nick's photo, you can see that he has trimmed only from where he is using the internal stem.

In your photo, it looks as if you might have trimmed off *all* of the area below the bevel line. But the idea is that you should only trim off what will be otherwise filed in with an internal stem. The rest you leave on the end form, and bevel it to suit the stem. (And tape it too.)
