: What approach do you-all use to go around a chine edge that is
: nearly 90 degrees in the Petrel? It looks like making a bevel at
: the strip edge will be better than using my cove/bead edges. At
: one form the strip is wide enough that it sticks above the edge
: of the chine by about 1/16 inch. Should I plane the width of the
: strip down so it forms perfectly around the form or should I let
: it raise above the edge and just come as close to the form
: outline as I can?
I'm facing the same question - I've started on a Black Pearl and I was wondering if I should go with a sharp join between two strips which I then sand round - meaning I have to add some filler on the inside of the hull to add thickness - or go with a thin strip on the chine. Since I'm painting it black I'll do the first option as it seems easier. Will find out in the next couple of weekends.
