: caliper when I started boatbuilding- worth its weight in gold!

: I use a skilsaw rather than a table saw because my workshop is not
: long enough to pass strips through a fixed tool. I have equipped
: my skilsaw with a finish quality blade and an oversized
: zero-clearance ply footplate, and clamp a long guidestrip to it.
: I can respectable results with that setup, errors down to about
: 1/64" - better on a good day. But the down side is, there
: is nothing to ensure the guide stays parallel to the blade, so I
: need the longer setup strips.

LOL! I wish I was a pro, right now just more of a kinda think I am wanna be perfectionist :) they were pretty cheap, only about $40. Right now building in the garage and same problem, not long enough so when I cut the strips, garage door gets opened, rip a plank and shut the door before it gets too cold!
