: Also: the little portable heaters don't like to be on extension
: cords. I have a small one that I use in the chicken coop to keep
: the girls warm. I used it in the shop a few times on a 12ga x
: 25' cord on a 20 amp circuit to help post-cure some laminations.
: After an hour, the cord was almost too hot to touch.
Dan , sounds like you need to invest in a heavy duty extension lead, the wire in yours is obviously too thin for continuous heavy load current. Also if you are using an extension lead on contiuous load, make sure that you unwind all of the coils, otherwise the induction current induced in the coils will rapidly heat it up to melt down. How do I know!!!!?
