Not mine. I just pulled a pair I had sitting around. A quick tap from a hammer (using a punch) released the magnet from the bracket. (Not sure how much that tap affected the magnets strength, but...) The picture below details the "bottom" surface of the magnet, where it contacted the bracket. The other magnet is still attached to its bracket, for comparison.

It looks to me like the magnet was epoxied to the bracket, then the assembly was plated (nickel?). Both the magnet and the bracket are bare in the same spot, leading me to believe that they are not plated in that area.
