I might be off the mark, but it's worth noting that the stems remain on the *inside* of the finished hull. So you don't transition the keel strips into them as such. They lie on the top of the stem just like the other strips do, and extend beyond the stem sufficiently to enable you to shape the external shape.

Your picture link didn't work - what you need to do is upload the photo to a website, and then you can link it from there. The link you added was to a file on your own computer, which (fortunately!) we can't access from internet land! There are heaps of free photo-hosting site like Flickr etc.
