Sometimes I'm dying to use the boat so I just have 2 coats on it with the intention of putting on a third. But often the third doesn't go on until the end of the season as I start to accumulate a few scratches. In the spring I usually put on a fresh coat especially if I am going to a wood boat gathering and want to show it off. Usually three is what most people consider done. As far as a spring coat, it really deπends on how much of a beating the boat has taken and your energy levels as far as doing it.
