What are your screws made of? If they could rust, then replace them. Tradition is heavy with boat building. Screws are not considered traditional. Other than that, if you followed Toms guidelines and epoxied it as well, then the screws should/could be fine. People use less and do just fine. I have a boat that uses lashing and no pegs for many joints.
