: I have a really big bottle of gold glitter and some spare epoxy and
: one S&G Night Heron that still needs a finish coat. My
: thought is to do something really interesting and showy with the
: aforementioned materials. Ideas would be appreciated. I did
: think of fiery flames curling along the length of the kayak. If
: anyone recalls, this kayak has real maple leafs embedded on the
: deck and under the glass. The flames could kind of curl around
: the leaves as they move along the length of the kayak. Yep, I
: know, it's sounds like a Liberaci (sp?) thang but if done
: properly, I think it would also be really cool to look at.

Metal flake :)
Like Mike said I'd worry about using glitter, most of it's plastic and it might not be compatable with the epoxy. In addition to 3M, House of Kolor makes most of the metal flake used in both automotive and marine markets. How it would work with epoxy would be the anyone's guess, normally it's used with clearcoat and the better shops use a mixing cup that keeps the flake stirred up in the cup. It tends to settle out and then you get very uneven coverage that looks awful. You would have to constantly stir the epoxy to do this. Experimenting is in order :) Definately don't try it on the boat the first time.
