I invited my wife to the shop to check out the deck design. First words were "it looks like a duck." Is that a compliment I wondered?
It hit me that it resembles the decoys I carved for awhile. The bow sweeps up like a duck tail and the maple stripes look like feathering. I don't really mind, at least ducks float. Might name her "Ducky".
The center stripe is curly maple flanked by walnut and soft maple. Sheer line is maple also.
Cockpit decking is next.
