I would seriously question the quality of that glue, and definitely not use it for he stripping.

maybe it is old, or maybe it was frozen at some point. It should have held, and it failed. All the time. That is pretty consistent, and a pretty good indicator of what your future results will be with that bottle of glue. Dump it before it causes you more grief.
