Hi Bob.
Your suggestion should certainly accomodate your size 12s. Looking at the plans, if you make your 1" rise at station 4 and then reduce by your 1/4" each station in both directions, that would fit giving you an almost level peak to the rear half of the deck and not unreasonable slope on the front half.
I think if I were in your shoes (no pun intended) I would cut and change the stations and then hot glue some strips on the profile lines to see how it looks before finaly commiting myself.
I have size 11s and find plenty of room under a standard deck using Nick's foot rest design. The angle of the rests is great but I find I need a sheet of self adheasive non slip tile on the faces to help keep my feet in place.
