Hey nice, I just got mine a few weeks ago. I use a bandsaw to rip all my stock so I use that baby for removing all the saw marks and dimensioning the stock for ribs and stringers. I previously was using a block plane to smooth ash stock for ribs, but now its just so much nicer.
Word to the wise though, that thing shoots out the shavings like you wouldn't believe, like 30 ft across a room. I stood in the line of fire to retrieve a board once and it was like getting hit by a sandblaster. They do sell a dust hood that goes on a garbage can, but I hear that it leaks. So instead I just hook up my shop vac to the dust port, but leave the shop vac turned off (the blower on the planer is that powerful). All the shavings go in the can, and all the dust gets filtered out, fills up fast though.
: Linda treated me well despite threatening to deliver only coal dust
: for my stocking. I would have been warmer with the coal dust but
: not I can make saw dust. She gave me a Dewalt 13 " planer.
: Now what can I do with this?
