I built the boat stands in Nick's book "The Strip-Built Sea Kayak" on page 72. They're 3' tall although I added small casters to the bottom to facilitate moving between rooms in the basement. That's made them about 38" tall and a little too tall for me at 5'10". I think 34 - 36 inches would work OK for my height.
