Moisture delays the onset of 'toasting'.

I recently did some 200mm diameter half circle laminations on my little SOF using 3mm pine that I heat bent. Unless it was wet, the wood was almost smoking by the time it was bent. any less heat and I couldn't get the bend to work properly.

: The moisture does nothing other than wet the surface of the wood,
: it's the heat that does the work.

: The reason a steam box works is the steam evenly heats all sides of
: the wood, has nothing to do with the moisture.
