I find it easier to work down on the boat, rather than having to reach up. Can see more down lower too.

There is a fairly huge difference in height between using an internal strongback vs. an external one that I'd never thought about before this thread. With the external one you've got the height of the strongback itself and whatever risers one used to mate the strongback to the stations all below the boat. I'd guess at least a foot of structure under the boat, can't very well work on the same stands or you'd never reach it.
