Thanks for pointing that out; honestly, I hadn't 'progressed' to the point of trouble-shooting my setup (still looking for the iron). I wonder about making a 'cap' out of FG and epoxy; I suspect it's non-conducting, isn't it? And I have a little of that on hand.

It strikes me - there must be some even more effective variations on this theme. It'd be interesting if there was a method of heating/steaming for just a section - generally bow/stern, maybe two feet or so. I've not steamed before (and that setup looks more involved than simple heat/heat gun), but something interesting to play with while waiting for the -15 F temps to dissipate and my shop to warm up a bit.

Appreciate the suggestions/sharing. The GFI is a good suggestion, regardless the setup.
