Hi Robert,

The stuff works great, though it's not used alone. I've been able to bash thru it, dropped the kayak (by mistake) onto a concrete curb which also damaged the fiberglass (it's a glass boat), but otherwise can't hurt the stuff. I do it in layers and since you never really want to sand graphite (makes a horrible mess) I lay the layers up green as soon as one coat starts to harden I put on another until it becomes opaque. It's a mixture of epoxy with about as I remember 15% of colocial silica and as much graphite as you can mix into it. The graphite is a very fine powder and floats on the epoxy so it's kinda a bitch to mix. Usually run out of time mixing before you get as much in the mixture as you'd like and have to just paint it on. I put it on with a narrow paint roller, it sorta smooths out on it's own and the roughness hasn't bothered the speed of the boat in the least.
