I have a Hock blade (it was a gift) in my Stanley low angle block plane. The Hock blade is thicker and is therefore stiffer and is supposed to chatter less than the OEM blade. Never had problems with the Stanley blade. The Hock does stay sharper longer but also does take a little longer to sharpen but then I have the sharpening toys. If it were my money I would wait until I had an issue with the existing blade then buy the Hock. I bought my Stanley bench planes on eBay and got some good deals. I fact I bought a Stanley spokeshave and Stanley #4 bench plane together just to get the spokeshave and gave the plane to Strosaker.
