: One of the great things about Western Red Cedar is that it comes in
: so many colors. Individual boards can run from creamy to
: chocolate brown, but it can take several visits to lumber yards
: to find the right boards. I'd stick with western Red Cedar for
: medium and darker colors, and maybe basswood if you can't find
: very light cedar.

: medium and light (see photo). It just takes time picking the
: boards and keeping the strips separate when building.

I've had really good luck finding the variation in colors of WRC from the yards selling cheap decking material. Yes it's full of knots, you have to cut around them and put up with that, but they arn't so selective of color compared to places selling clear stock.
