: When I do mine with vertical strips I like to sand the strips first
: before the fillet. Then form the fillet with thickened epoxy and
: install the bias cut glass right into the fresh epoxy fillet..
: This forms a great bond between fillet and glass. Be sure to cut
: the glass on a bias, so the strands are running on a 45. This
: helps the glass to make the bend at the fillet plus all the
: strands are adding to the strength of the joint.

I glassed the outside of the riser today. I sanded the riser smooth then fillet around the seam and used three layers of some 1.7 oz cloth I had around just to try it out. Worked out good, I have not used anything lighter than 6 oz before and actually like using the lighter stuff alot more, when I am done wetting out there is practically no texture to fill in after if I want a heavier layup I just use more glass.
