Hi. Paul.
As a Brit. I can say I've never seen or heard of a Lucas fridge. Haven't seen that name for ages.
Don't know if they still exist, so you could be right about the word of mouth!
Bill's right about getting more flavor (look I've just lapsed into US spelling!) from beer just below room temp.
Mostly our summers aren't so hot, so beer temperature isn't such an issue.
We do tend to drink lagers colder. Personaly, I still prefer a good Warmish!!? pint of bitter.
