Scott, Keith's kayak is the longer version. I have paddled it before so I can tell you how it performs. It has terrific primary and secondary stability, lots of storage space, is fast and needs a rudder. It's length makes it a wee bit tough to turn because it has only a wee dose of rocker. It would be a very good expedition kayak. I could do some great photography from that kayak and if it weren't for the fact that I had the Lightning 17, I would have used the Solace 18EX for my cross-Canada adventure. There is no question about looks - it is as sexy as it gets for a S&G...then again, if I was single, my bet is that Nick's S&G Night Heron (last years project) could easily get me dates. ;) I plan to help Keith do a light build so we will not be glassing the inside except for the cockpit floor. Tapes seams for the inside, small fillets and only just enough endpour for the hand toggles. I built the NH that way and totally love it's light weight (probably under 27-lbs). I will take Keith's kayak out for a few paddles this summer and give you more info on it's performance once done.
