In Response To: Tools: Basic Table Saw Question *PIC* (Stephen Troy)

I went back in today to build the strongback, and noticed a lever rigged between the tables to allow the fence to slide over to the metal table. The fellow using it during the day makes cabinets so it spends a lot of time on the other side.

The insert is one of 10 there, several have much narrower apertures. Should be fine as far as that goes, and I'll use the metal ruler to gauge true distance.
