For work once I volunteered to kayak in the down wash of a helicopter (Bell 412) while it was in a 100' hover. We were testing a video bases hover and hold system for SAR related work.

No matter what I did or how much I braced or how low I hunkered down I was blown over and the kayak blown well away from me. My lesson was that when the wind gets really gusty and intense I'm better off to preemptively roll and hang on to the kayak than to do so in the middle of a tornado.
