Todd, Looks like we're at about the same place in our builds. Your boats' a beauty btw.
I decided after much reading to glass my deck first, then build the riser out of alternating cherry and mahogany 1/8 x 5/8" strips installed with hot glue and pvc. Looks like you did it in similar fashion.
Then I taped off the riser about 1/4" out onto the deck and formed a fillet of thickened epoxy. It is darker than I wanted and probably a bit bigger than necessary. I'd do it better next time.
Now I'm in the process of gluing thin strips of maple directly to the riser with PVC and have done about 4 wraps now, each about 1/16" thick.
I plan to do about 3 more til it's roughly 3/4" wide. I set it 3/4" above the deck. My riser creates a compound curve so it takes a lot of clamps. I don't have enough clamps for a full wrap so am gluing half at a time and staggering the connecting joints. You can see the second half running wild to the right in the pic.
I plan to tape off and glass the fillet, riser, lip and inside the riser all at once.
Am not saying this it the best method but it's what I felt comfortable with for my first time and just thought I'd share it.

ll be working on laminating a coming lip on my already
: existing coming riser. Is there a standard height (distance
: between top of deck and bottom of lip), and width (distance from
: outside of coming riser to outside of lip) to keep a spray skirt
: on well? Also; where do most get their wood for this? I've been
: searching for Ash Veneer, but it's all too thin, and often has
: paper on one side, etc. Is there someplace that sells like 1/8
: inch ash veneer, or should I just plan on sawing my own?
: Thanks,
: Todd
