: great. The trick on shaving a spoke or paddle loom is to adjust
: the blade for a very fine cut at one side of the blade and a
: coarse cut at the other side. Then you can easily control the
: depth of cut by where on the width of the blade the shaving
: peals off the blade. When you are making wide shavings across
: the blade the depth screws really help. A little tune up and a
: sharp blade will eliminate chatter especially on soft woods. You
: want a flat bottom spokeshave carving for paddles. eBay is a
: great source.

That is a very good idea that I have never heard before about the variable depth setting across the mouth of the shave. I need to try that out.
