: a forster bit to drill the initial hole then another the same
: size with the point ground off to make the hole flat on the
: bottom without puncturing the top of the hatch. They need to be

I didn't invent it, but this is what I did with my hatches. They are 1/4 thick, but the two forster bit system worked well.
