: My plan was for my son and I to complete 2 kayaks over the winter,
: but we're still not done with the first, so the second might
: have to wait until next winter. But.....we were also eventually
: planing on building a SOF for my dad and I'm thinking maybe we
: could get that done yet this winter after the first is complete.
: Does anyone have any suggestions on a design for a very
: comfortable (stable) small/calm water SOF design with enough
: displacement for a 250-270 lb paddler? My dad thought he'd use
: it mostly for just casually cruizing around and fishing some.
: I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Hi Todd
The Chuckanut 15 would be ideal for your dad's size and usage, I'd say - a comfortable, 6' long cockpit, and considerably wider and more stable than anything else available in SOF.
Check it out here: www.GentryCustomBoats.com
And, there's no need to wait a year to finish another kayak - you could build several SOF boats in the next couple of months! Check out easy to build designs by me, Jeff (Kudzucraft.com), or Tom Yost (yostwerks.com).
Good luck!
