: Yup, per your instructions, I always seal the Dacron with a light
: coating of epoxy then laminate on the Vectracloth. It is very
: similar to Dynel. It also reminds me of Kevlar. 4oz Vectra uses
: as much epoxy as 8 or 9 oz fiberglass. I never thought it would
: stop sucking in epoxy! I also made a separate 12"x12"
: panel out of some scrap fabric that I laminated like the skin to
: use as a weight comparison of other skins. It weighed in at
: 1.7oz/SF = 15.3 oz/SY. NOT including two coats of paint. Even
: with all the epoxy it's quite flexible. The cotton/poly on the
: deck used a lot less epoxy. (No test panel)

: The 3oz glass on my daughter's boat shouldn't use nearly as much
: epoxy. I'm making a test panel for that as well as the
: Dacron/cotton-poly deck. I'll report back with a weight when I
: finally get to glassing her hull.

The flexibility of the finished fabric is what surprises people, most assume that fiberglass is always rigid.
