: Hi Guys,
: I have a Porter Cable 343 5" r.o.sander and was hoping someone
: had advice on a soft adaptor pad etc. The stock pad is too hard
: and PC's 13905 contour pad seems not soft enough. There has to
: be a better solution to conforming to the chines and pinched bow
: and stern.
: Any thoughts?
: Thanks, Jim
For really tight areas you're far better off sanding by hand. Yeah it's more work, but also have much better control.
There are really soft pads available, though you'll probably have to modify them for the sander you're using as they are designed for pneumatic sanders, at the automotive paint supply places. Most towns have at least one that supplies auto body shops, look in the yellow pages (remember them? ) Btw, these places have usually the best sandpaper and hand sanding blocks too as well as epoxy (paint) mixing cups.
