I was at a Woodworking Show last weekend and saw a booth for the 3D Woodworking Store of Creston, Iowa, USA that sells materials for inlays. They have a technique where the pattern is cut with a router and then the groove is filled with a colored epoxy. it appears they have their colors premixed into the resin. Measure out a few drops of their colored epoxy, add a few drops of hardener, and paint it on.
