There are a number of variations on the technique. What they have in common is producing a smooth flat edge and then creating a burr on that edge.

Your best bet is to search for some descriptions of the technique and some youtube videos demonstrating how to do it. Some people have more success with one technique while others find a different one works best for them. So I would suggest looking at a few and if the first one you try doesn't seem to work for you, try a slightly different one.
