I borrowed an old De Walt saw for the past year, ripped enough strips for three boats.
Because I'm moving house shortly I returned it today and had a great moment.
The guy who owned it has a passion for old woodworking tools and has been collecting them for several decades,
going around boot fairs junk stalls and the like.
It would probably be true to say he has far more than most hardware stores. Like "tea chests full" of planes,
saws spokeshaves, and any other woodworking tool you might care to mention.
By way of something to remember him by when I finaly get round to a new workshop, I have come home with the gift
of a Stanley No6, a Stanley No2 and two nice block planes. All need cleaning and sharpening but are otherwise in good condition.
When we talk of a parallel world where tools disapear to, I now know where it is.
