: I'm planning on using 1/8" x 2"x3" rectangle steel
: tube for an internal strongback. The book lists the length at
: 14' 11" can I simply cut my tube to this length or will I
: need to cut similar to the shape in Nick's video blog for the
: Petrel?

You will need to taper the ends (on the sides as well as the bottom) to allow room for the strips to fit.

: I'm alittle confused on the form spacing as well the book says
: 12" the blog for the petrel was less and the book confused
: me on where and how to start the spacing. I plan on using
: 1/4" x 3/4" strips and 3/4" forms. Do I measure
: from the nose of the end form 11.75 and place the first form or
: what??? Has anyone used the spacer and wedge method for the
: guillemot? What size did you make your spacers??

3/4" thickness forms means you will need 11 1/4" between forms EXCEPT your middle two forms, where they *both* face 'outwards' (towards the respective end form), so in order to get a 12" gap between the sheets of paper, you'll want a 10 1/2" spacing.

It is ALL about getting the paper forms to be 12" apart!

You mount the first full form (form 2) so that it sits perpendicular to the end of the bow end form.

: Also for the forms that attach directly to the end forms do I need
: to cut them in half or cut 3/4" out of the middle of them?

You cut the 3/4" gap out of them, to allow for the thickness of the end form itself.

I wrote up how I did my Guillemot strongback (using wood, and not spacers, but it might help!) here:

Note too that there is a small error in the offsets table for the end forms - see the link above and photo below.
