I built my first couple of SOF kayaks in 1962 for white water kayaking.
Then bought a Klepper touring boat which felt heavy and sluggish and was sold on quite quickly.
Started building my Guillemot in 2009 and through all those years kayaking has been completely
off the radar in the UK.
Now quite suddenly it seems to be one of the latest trendy things to be seen doing.
Just about every out-door TV program has someone in a kayak. It's just a shame that so far
they all use platic pigs, don't seem to have discovered strip built boats. I guess that all us
strippers on this side of the pond need to make ourselves a lot more visible.
My son is just about to marry a California Girl who's coming over here to live, so I'm under orders
to get my second boat completed for spring. Then the South coast will get some exposure.
I'll also need to build a third if I want some time on the water!
