Man, you guys go all out. I just overlap the two strips to scarf about 4 inches (bead to bead and cove to cove), tape them together with masking tape, draw a diagonal line, and cut on the line on my bandsaw... a coupe of swipes with the block plane on each side smoothes the edges, then glue and clamp 'em...
